Marymount International School is a private, Catholic, co-educational day school committed to the success of each of its students, from early childhood through grade 12. In addition to a stimulating and caring environment, Marymount offers students an English-language American curriculum that emphasizes respect, appreciation, and tolerance, while promoting a life-long love of learning. Founded in 1946, Marymount is part of the world-wide network of schools directed by the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary.

CURRICULUM - The program of studies is based on the American system of education and is carefully designed to form a continuum from early childhood through high school. Students enjoy access to the latest technology in and out of the classroom, including state-of-the art computer labs, fully equipped libraries, and wireless technology throughout the campus. On successful completion of the high school program students are awarded the Marymount American High School Diploma. Most students in Grades 11 and 12 follow the International Baccalaureate (IB).  Marymount graduates have gone on to attend many of the world’s leading institutions of higher education, including Oxford, Cambridge, the London School of Economics, Harvard, Yale, McGill University, and Università “La Sapienza.”

FACULTY - All of Marymount faculty members have college degrees, and a significant number hold one or more advanced degrees, including the M.A., M.S., and Ph.D.  Average class size is 15 students.

CAMPUS - Marymount is situated on a beautiful 40-acre campus off the Via Cassia in northern Rome.  Within its 5 academic buildings, Marymount houses 3 libraries, 2 computer labs, 3 art studios, 2 music studios, 2 playgrounds, tennis courts, basketball courts, a soccer field, an auditorium, and a cafeteria.  A private bus service to and from the school is available to students living in most areas of Rome.

ACTIVITIES -  Marymount offers a physical education program in both the Elementary and Secondary Schools with varsity-level teams that participate in the DoDDS league in soccer, basketball, volleyball, track and field, and cross country, as well as extracurricular activities, such as music, drama, dance, Model United Nations, National Honor Society, private music and language lessons, and myriad after-school programs.

RELIGION - Marymount welcomes students from many diverse cultures and respects their religious beliefs.  Students wishing to do so are provided with the opportunity to prepare for the Sacraments of the Eucharist and Reconciliation.

ACHIEVEMENT TESTING - All students are given the opportunity to take the PSAT, SAT I, SAT II Subject Tests, ACT, and TOEFL tests.

ACCREDITATION - The school is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC), and the European Council of International Schools (ECIS).
